Wide Open Youth Ministry

Tonight’s Tuesday Night Worship is the final one with John and Tonya.  All youth (and former youth) are invited to join us this evening.  The focus tonight is on Mark 12:30-31, verses very important to the student ministry, as we look at what it really means to follow the greatest command, to love God and to love others.  Wear your favorite youth ministry t-shirt (there are like a million of them) and be here by 6pm!

Its summertime! Celebration time!  Remember, Tuesday Night Worship is not in the FLC.  Tonight there will be food and fun over at the Matthews’ house on 5th Street.  Wear something that can get wet, we just might play a game of water balloon Capture the Flag!  It all starts at 6:00pm.  Should you need more information or directions, just give a call to the church office or John’s cell!

This Sunday is an important day for the student ministry.  First, we are hosting a breakfast for our Senior Adults over 70 years of age.  This is our way of saying thank you to a group that has set such a fine example for us and have always been such huge supporters of our student ministry.  Youth need to be in the Fellowship Hall at 7:15 to help with set up and serving.  Also, we still need some breakfast foods (i.e. breakfast casseroles, fruit, biscuits, etc.).  If parents can help provide those items, please contact John asap.

Second, there is an informational meeting for the Cleveland, TN mission trip this Sunday Afternoon at 5:00.  Those adults, youth, and college/young professionals who are planning on being a part of this trip, need to be at this meeting.

We have tickets to see Tobymac and Skillet on the Awake Tonight Tour.  The concert is Thursday, April 1st in New Orleans.  We have 13 tickets available and it is first come first served.  The tickets cost $22 and your money holds your spot.  If possible please pay by check made payable to First Baptist Church.

It should be a great concert experience so sign up while you can!

We are gearing up for this summer’s mission trip to Cleveland, TN.  We will be working with a ministry called Ocoee Outreach. Ocoee Outreach is a community ministry that provides free home repair to low-income home owners living in Southeast Tennessee. Our Mission is to Restore Homes and Renew Hope and to Reach Hearts for Jesus Christ! We worked with this ministry back in 2004 and it was a fantastic experience.

The trip is open to all junior high and high school students as well as any college/young professionals interested.  We will be staying all together at a local church, but will be divided into multiple projects.  For example, our junior high students may be working on one project while our college students are putting a new roof on a different home.

The dates are July 18-25.  We also need at least 5 other adults willing to commit to being a part of this trip.
